Planning Your Wedding After Covid-19
After months of wedding plans either changing or being put on hold, we finally see the light at the end of the tunnel. The surrounding Philadelphia area will be moving into the yellow phase soon and hopefully not too long after into the green phase. As life moves into a new normal, we can start planning larger gatherings but be mindful that there is a plan B so all possibilities are covered. When planning large scale events we have to consider what makes us comfortable in regards to safety. A few things to keep in mind, check with your venue to confirm the number of people allowed is your total guest count or does that number include staffing for your event. Ask what safety measures they are taking such as their policy of wearing masks, food service, social distancing, how many guest per table and is there limited dancing. With these factors in mind, decide how this will affect you and your guests especially those who are older, may have compromised immune systems or even traveling from a distance. Some of these questions are also applicable to your other vendors such as your band or DJ, florist and photographers. When you have answers to these questions, you will have a better understanding of the situation. You then can proceed as planned or may have to modify plans. The key is to take a deep breath and relax. We ( you and your vendors ) are all navigating this together. No matter what, the goal is to make your wedding day as special and memorable as possible!
Boho Styled Shoot at Tyler Gardens
It was a chilly rainy October day, but that didn’t dampen the spirits of all the vendors involved with this styled shoot at Tyler Gardens located on the grounds of Bucks County Community College in Newtown, Pa. It was the beautiful backdrop of the fall trees that complimented the Boho theme of pampas grass with copper accents.
Late Summer Wedding at French Creek Golf Club
Sarah and Joshua’s late summer wedding on August 30, 2019 was a beautiful day at French Creek Golf Club in Elverson, Pa with a backdrop of trees and a lake with a historic spring house. Sarah loved boxwood and moss, two main elements we incorporated into her flowers with her favorite colors of yellows, peaches and oranges. It’s that perfect time of year when you still have sunflowers and dahlias but fall flowers are starting to infiltrate the landscape with grasses, celosia and antiqued hydrangeas.

Halloween Botanical Couture
Lately I have been fascinated by floral headpieces. Being inspired by designers Susan McCleary, Francoise Weeks and Hitomi Gilliam, I thought this would be a good time to experiment with these designs. Other than Halloween, when can you actually go out in public with something like this and not be judged? Haha! Of course these are a little over the top, but it makes you think how you can incorporate the idea into a scaled down piece for a wedding. Why not go for the unexpected?
Styled Photo Shoot at Merion Tribute House, Merion Station, PA
We definitely had late summer feels in September with bold golds and greens. It was an attention grabber that complimented the surroundings. No fading into the background here! The backdrop for this day was a stately historic mansion that was built after WW1 to recognize the 81 men from Merion that served in the armed forces and acted as a community center. The history of the building and the architecture enhanced the bold design and color of the balloons and flowers such as proteas, roses, eucalyptus, succulents, grasses and feathers in this collaboration in unexpected ways!

Silk Wedding Flowers For A Traveling Couple
Silk wedding flowers. When I first heard of this concept in all honesty it baffled me. My first thought was “Why?!?!”. Being a wedding florist, we are usually working with fresh flowers and product and enjoy the fragrance, the feel of the petals and the slight variation of each stem. But we need to keep in mind that there are always new trends going on in regards to color and materials. That said, it seems silks and dried flowers are back! I’m finding it’s actually a nice option and blending materials gives your pieces interesting textures. There are different reasons for requesting silk flowers, a permanent memento from your special day, or perhaps a couple absolutely loves a particular flower and its out of season. Recently I had the honor of working with a bride who was having her wedding out of town and she wanted silk flowers . For her, it was easier to have everything done ahead of time and arrive at her venue with everything ready to go. She also had chosen flowers that had special meaning to her and her fiance but were no longer in season. The quality of silk flowers has come a long way and they look very natural, realistic and beautiful. It’s great to have options!
